(Not in human but in pigs) However, early indications of patients have been successfully treated with the antiviral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza. Although they cannot prevent flu but they can limit its severity, hus save lives if proper treatment taken as soon as symptoms develop. Scientists are still finding the right flu shot(flu vaccine) to eliminate the virus but it takes longer time to develop.

How to protect myself from getting Swine Flu?

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth as germs spread fast this way.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you get sick with influenza, stay at home from work or school to keep from spreading the virus. Please seek immediate emergency medical care if you become ill of influenza.
  • Cover you cough or sneeze if you do not have a tissue. Then, wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible.

Can I get Swine Flu from eating or preparing pork?
No. Swine influenza viruses are not spread by food. Cooking also kills the viruses.

Who is at greatest risk?
In Mexico, the virus appears target those aged 20 to 40. In the US, the virus attacked children who are suffering only mild illness. Still no accurate statistic to show that which age category is under the greatest risk.
