EPF (Employees Provident Fund) or KWSP is a social security institution formed to provide retirement benefits for Malaysian citizens through management of their savings in an efficient and reliable manner. The total number of active and contributing members was 5.79 million as of 31 December 2009. The EPF ensures your savings are secure and receive reasonable dividends (minimum of 2.5% annually)

EPF is important to all employees when you need to withdraw EPF savings from second account to pay for housing loans or other purposes. Therefore, you need to know the location and address of Office EPF nearby your area. Although you can call EPF customer call management centre at 03-89226000 for any enquiries, you still need to go to their branches to submit application forms for certain applications. 1. Dear Sir,

Re: Requesting for extra assistance in my unpaid EPF contribution claims from 2004 t0 2009 by S.U.C. Consortium S/B of Kolej Laila Taib in Sibu.

I was informed this afternoon by Mr Obed, the Head of Enforcement, in Sibu EFP office, that he could help me in my claims only but not the other workers because the other workers did not provide any bonus vouchers for him to justify any claims. Mr. Andrew Wong Kee Yew, CEO, wrote him a letter stating that he did not pay any bonus to his staff during that period. He paid reward payments to the staff for the 6 years.

I had provided my copies of my bonus vouchers for that period. That had proved strongly that Mr. Andrew Wong Kee Yew had told a lie to Mr. Obed. Even Mr. Andrew Wong Kee Yew paid his staff reward payments in cash into the staff bank a/c directly. He still had pay his staff EPF contributions for the 6 years. Do yearly “cash rewards” subject to EPF contributions? Please let me know my stance?

So Mr. Obed decided to presude my claims only on Monday, 5th August 2013. Can anyone help the other staff who are too scare to come out for fearing of lossing their jobs? Are the EPF laws protecting their rights too?

If the “powerful employers ” lie about the facts, can EPF department have ways to bring them to justice?

Please help us by protecting our workers’ rights.

I am enclosing herewith my letter to Sibu and Kuching EPF offices for your perusal.

    Yours sincerely.

    Dear Sir

RE: CLAIMING BACK THE BACK-DATED EPF CONTRIBUTIONS FROM MY ANNUAL BONUSES FROM THE YEAR 2004 TO THE YEAR 2010 FROM S.U.C. CONSORTIUM S/B OF KOLEJ LAILA TAIB ( FORMALLY KNOWN AS UNITED COLLEGE SARAWAK, 1996-2010)

With reference to the above I am sincerely seeking for your kind and prompt assistance. On the 30th June 2013, I was unfairly dismissed from my 17 years of continuous employment with the college. With my constant fear of losing my job under Mr. Andrew Wong Kee Yew, CEO, and after witnessing so many unfair dismissal cases with the Labour Department in 2000 and 2002, I could not bring this matter to your attention until now.

There are around or more than 100 employees and ex-employees who are also afraid or fear to bring their problems to you. I am sincerely hoping that your department would also uphold and protect their fundamental rights under the Laws at the same time. The human resource personnel in Kolej Laib Taib would easily print out for you the copies of the ex-employees’ and employees’ name lists who were given their bonuses without any EPF contributions by the S.U.C. Consortium S/B in those 6 years (2004-2009).

I am sincerely hoping that you could help me and the other staff to claim back our EPF contributions from Mr. Andrew Wong under the EPF Act 1991 for defaulting on the his workers’ EPF contributions for those 6 years.
Mr. Andrew Wong was so proudly displayed his two posters on the staff notice board from the year 2005 to the beginning of 2013 before the Vice Chancellor of University College Technology Sarawak, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Bin Juri came to work in his temporary office in Kolej Laila Taib campus on 1st April 2013. The slogans of the posters were as stated below:

    “The Rule no.1
    The boss is always right.

    The Rule no.2
If the boss is wrong, please refer to rule no.1.”

Who dares to voice out any unfairness or complaints to him if one is still working under him? Mr. Andrew Wong Kee Yew, CEO of Kolej Laila Taib, is also the son of Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh. That was why the ex-employees and the employees kept quiet for fear of losing.

I trust you and your department will uphold and enforce the Laws which are entrusted to you to protect all the workers. Your prompt and sincere actions are much appreciated.

    Thank you in anticipation.

    Yours sincerely,

  2. Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank EPF for having a representative, Encik Muhamad Hadi (C967) who attended to me and my husband (both retirees) on 12th February, 2015 at 2.20pm.

He was friendly,, helpful and pleasant especially when we posed numerous questions to him  Every question was put to him and he answered them gently, patiently in all possibilities.

Seriously we were amazed how he handled our problems which ultimately took his time to listen attentively and explain elaborately the products concerning EPF.

Because of many negative information we heard, we evenually gained a better knowledge on the aspects of EPF, which we gladly will continue to put our investment in a safe and stable financial institution, where we can have a better growth for our future retirement.

We are very pleased and grateful with the service rendered to us, that many more customers who may be ignorant or illiterate will appreciate a representatives like Encik Muhamad Hadi who makes it more valuable, that their time spent is worth looking for,

I say it ith much delight for all the positive knowledge that I gained.

    Thank you EPF.

    Yours faithfully,
    LIAN YOKE MOOI
    (EPF Member)
