Thank you Microsoft Promotion Award Team for sending the winning notification email to me. According to them, I’m a lucky Windows XP user who has won the sum of 500,000.00 pounds or five hundred thousand Great British Pounds. The cheque will be issued to me and also a certificate of prize.
To claim the money, I have to contact the appointed agent and fill up the fund release form and give personal details to the agent. Let’s see my winning notification email screen shot below:
SPAM Email! Don’t Trust This Email
This is obviously spam email which I believe the spammers have sent to many other people via email as well. Don’t easily believe in their sweet words because I had received the same email a few times and I guess I’m already a milionaire long time ago.
How To Know If This Is a Spam Email?
1) Firstly, it’s in your spam mailbox. I’m using Gmail and Gmail will give a red warning at the top of email with warning message “This message may not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information.”
2) Do you really take part in the contest/lucky draw as mentioned in the email? Try to remember it and if not, then you know that the email is just a trap.
3) Don’t be greedy. I know all of us will open our eyes wide after seeing the big amount of money. But, let’s think again before replying the email to the agent. Why don’t you open the browser and search the result in Google? I’m sure you can find the same spam email content and read the other people reviews. It takes you may be a minute but prevent you being cheated.
4) Try to confirm the prize with the real company or consumer department. For example, this email originated from Microsoft; then you should ask Microsoft branch at your country or nearby region. Remember don’t use the phone number as stated in the email but find the contact number from Microsoft website.
What Actions Should I Take To Warn Other People?
If you have identified it’s a real spam email, you can mark it as SPAM if it’ not in the spam mailbox. It might be good that you can print screen the image and send it to your friends and relatives to warn them about the spam email. I don’t encourage you to forward the spam email to your friends because the forwarded email might contain viruses or trojans… Who knows, Right?
Next, you can find some complaints website such as ComplaintsCentre.com or similar complaint board to report this scam email in order to help other users around the world to avoid further financial loss. Besides, you can post the email contents in social media network such as Facebook and Twitter.
Conclusion:
Do you receive any spam email? How do you deal with these kinds of spam emails? Kindly share your thoughts.
Always be careful. I got a lot of spams like that in my email everyday =)
