Just in 3 months time after Firefox 4, the newest version Firefox 5 is released now and there are some great improvements and new features were added in terms of speed, security and performance.

How well is Firefox 5 Compares to Firefox 4?

Better Speed and Less Memory Resource

Although there are not many changes on user interface but the most outstanding improvement is its speed. We know that Firefox 4 is a bit slower and utilizes lots of memory resource. In my previous Firefox 4.0.1, the memory usage was over 300MB but using the new Firefox 5, it uses less than 300 MB of memory. In terms of browsing speed, Firefox 5 is quick and faster than previous version. It has a fast JavaScript engine and much improved HTML5 support compared to Firefox 4.

Below screenshot shows the HTML5 test results for some popular browsers and Google Chrome takes the lead while Firefox 5 is sitting on the second with 286 scores.
