What Is 1 Malaysia Mobile Clinic?

According to Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, 1Malaysia Mobile Clinics will use buses which equipped with all medical facilities and can handle minor surgeries. It will serve all remote areas with limited access to 1 Malaysia Clinics or Government’s hospitals.

1Malaysia Mobile Clinics Is A Good Strategy To Serve Rural People.

I personally believe that 1 Malaysia mobile clinics will be able to deliver quality health-care to the people who live in the rural areas, Kampungs or estates. These people’s needs and demands should not be neglected at all. For example, since the launching of 1 Malaysia Clinics throughout the country, there were more than 640 thousand patients had received quality and affordable medical treatment.

Conclusion:
People Healthy, Country Strong. That’s right, when Government provide better health-care services to the people; more people will have healthier body and thus boosting the economy and performance of Malaysia.

- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding (for women)
- Do not take part in high-risk behaviors (multiple sexual partners)

For those who are self employed or retired people, you can get the cheapest medical treatment at Government Clinic mostly in Government General hospital.

How To Get Outpatient Treatment at Malaysia Government Clinic?
If you are a Malaysia citizen, just pay as low as RM1 to get medical treatment at Government Clinic. Non-Malaysian will pay more as they are not being subsidize by Malaysia Government. You need to register first at registration counter which require your IC (Identification Card) and the staff there will give you the number. After getting necessary Outpatient treatment from doctor, the doctor will give you a prescription which need to submit to Pharmacy section and wait for the medicine given by Government pharmacy. The process is quite easy but the duration of waiting for your turn is much depending on the total patients on that day.

Friday
8am – 12.15pm

Previouly, I had posted a forwarded info: H1N1 advisory For H1N1 Patients to guide all Influenza patients how to prevent and treat the disease. However, we also cannot forget those doctors or nurses who taking care of those infected patients because they are in high danger risk too because of direct contact with these H1N1 patients. Therefore, I would like to share with you the another forwarded brochure by Ministry of Health Singapore called “Advisory For Caregivers and Contacts”

Are You A Contact ?

Close contact with someone with Influenza-like illness (ILI) may expose you to the Influenza A (H1N1 -2009) Virus. You may also be a contact if you are caring for someone with ILI. The infected person is infectious 24 hours before the infected person’s symptoms appear and continues throughout period that he/she is ill. Exposure can take place anywhere – at school, work, and even at home.

What Should You Do If Either You Or You Child Is A Contact ?
Avoid further close contact with the person who is ill to reduce the chance of being infected.

Monitor you health and watch out for these flu-like symptoms:

1. Fever
2. Sore throat
3. Cough
4. Body ache
5. Runny Nose
6. Headache
7. Tiredness

Children who are contacts should refrain from playing with other children outside or inside your home as children may continue playing even when they start having flu-like symptoms and this would put other children at risk.

If you or your child belong to any of the high-risk groups below, you should be extra vigilant and monitor the health of both you and your child closely. High-risk groups are:

• Children < 5 years
• Pregnant women
• Have underlying medical conditions such as asthma, chronic lung disease, heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease
• On dialysis
• On immunosuppressants
• Undergoing cancer treatment
• On long-term aspirin therapy
• Persons aged 65 years and older
What should you do if either you or your child is unwell?
If you or your child has any symptoms of ILI, wear a surgical mask and see a doctor immediately:
a) Pregnant women, patients undergoing cancer treatment or dialysis should consult their primary specialist.
b) All other persons should go to a Pandemic Preparedness Clinic (PPC), polyclinic or their primary care doctor.

What Additional Precautions Should Household Contacts Take?

If you need to communicate with the ill person, ensure that both you and the infected person wear surgical masks and remain at a distance of at least two metres from one another. Dispose used mask in a plastic bag, tie it up and throw it into a covered rubbish bin. After taking off your mask, clean your hands with soap and water (or use an alcohol-based hand rub).

Avoid having meals together with the ill person as masks would have to be removed during meals. Maintain good ventilation at home, such as keeping windows open in toilets, rooms and the kitchen.

What else should you take note of if you are a caregiver of a person with ILI?

Have only one adult caregiver for the ill person. If you are in a high-risk group, avoid being the caregiver and make alternative arrangements.

When attending to the ill person, wear a surgical mask at all times. Clean your hands with soap and water (or use an alcohol-based hand rub) after touching the ill person, their used tissues or laundry. Do not give aspirin to children or teenagers who have the flu. This can cause a rare but serious illness called Reye’s syndrome.

What precautions should you take for household cleaning, laundry & waste disposal?
• Tissue papers and other disposable items that have been used by the infected person should be thrown in the dustbin. Wash hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand rub after disposing those items.
• Surfaces soiled with sputum, phlegm, nose discharge or vomit should be washed or wiped with 1:50 diluted household bleach (1 part of bleach to 50 parts of water) immediately. Metallic surfaces can be cleaned with 70% alcohol.
• Bed sheets, towels, eating utensils and dishes used by the infected person do not need to be washed separately, but they should not be shared without washing thoroughly first.
• Bed sheets and towels can be washed using household fabric washing powder in the washing machine on hot setting.
• Do not carry dirty laundry by ‘hugging’ to avoid contaminating yourself.
• Eating utensils should also be washed either in a dishwasher or by hand with water and soap.

Recently, Malaysia Government has launched 50 1Malaysia Clinics to offer the cheapest medical services at only one ringgit or less than US$0.35. All these “Klinik 1 Malaysia” are set up in the urban areas to provide fast and cheap treatment for the poor citizen. The 1Malaysia Clinic programme is under the Government’s 1Care programme aimed at providing quality healthcare to public. We all know that the healthcare expenses are very expensive nowadays and the Government initiatives is timely to meet the urgent needs of people. Therefore, this is a good news to all Malaysian.

50 1Malaysia Clinics Nationwide
The clinics are manned by assistant medical officers and the operating hours from 10am to 10pm, 7 days a week. Assistant medical officers are capable to provide treatment at common illness and provide follow-up checks for chronic diseases. These Klinik 1 Malaysia will ease the overcrowding at government hospitals and save time and money to the public. Government has spent RM10 million for 50 1Malaysia Clinics include the facilities.

Scope of 1Malaysia Clinics Services include:
-  minor treatments for fever, cough and flu;
-  follow-up treatments for stable chronic patients like those who are diabetic, have high blood pressure and asthma cases;
- minor surgical procedures like cleaning wounds and taking out stitches;
- simple laboratory tests;
- stabilising patients under emergency cases before referring them to hospitals; and
- health consultation and promotions for patients.

I’m happy and support the Government’s programme to set up 1Malaysia Clinics which highly reduce the burden of people living in the lower and middle income groups. Please refer to the Klinik 1 Malaysia list below:

Last month, I received a forwarded email regarding H1N1 – Influenza brochure. The title of the brochure was “Advisory For Patients”. I read through the brochure and found out that it’s distributed by Ministry Of Health Singapore and Health Promotion Board. I think the information given were useful to everyone of us to prevent the H1N1 disease. Let’s read on the Influenza brochure…

ADVISORY FOR PATIENTS

When you are unwell with Influenza-like illness (ILI), practise the following:

Be socially responsible

Stay at home and rest. Drink plenty of clear fluids like water and clear soups to
prevent dehydration.

Minimise physical contact with others including household members.

Keep yourself in a room separate from the common areas of the house, use a separate
toilet and avoid having meals with others.

Wear a mask even when at home to avoid transmission to household members. Dispose
your used mask in a plastic bag, tie it up and throw it into a covered rubbish bin. Wash your
hands thoroughly after disposal of the used mask.

If you need to go out, wear a surgical mask.

In addition, you should also:

• Avoid close contact with other people.
• Avoid taking public transport.
• Avoid attending large meetings or visiting crowded places.
• Refrain from air travel if possible.
Special care should be taken to avoid the following groups of persons who are at high risk of
developing Influenza-related complications:

• Children < 5 years
• Pregnant women
• Have underlying medical conditions such as asthma, chronic lung disease,
heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease
• On dialysis
• On immunosuppressants
• Undergoing cancer treatment
• On long-term aspirin therapy
• Persons aged 65 years and older

Observe good personal hygiene

• Cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper when coughing or sneezing.
Dispose the used tissue paper in the rubbish bin properly.

• Wash your hands every time you touch your nose, mouth or eyes.
• Maintain good indoor ventilation.
• Wash/wipe surfaces soiled with sputum, phlegm, nose discharge or vomit with 1:50 diluted household bleach (i.e. adding 1 part of bleach to 50 parts of water) immediately.
Metallic surfaces can be cleaned with 70% alcohol.
• If you need to come into close contact with anyone, both you and the uninfected person should wear surgical masks and maintain a distance of at least two metres from each other.

• If you have been given medical leave, do not return to work or school before the end of the leave period.

Emergency warning signs in adults

•Breathlessness or chest pain
•Purple or blue discolouration of the lips
•Severe and persistent vomiting
•Signs of dehydration such as dizziness when standing and absence of urination
•Seizures (fits)
•Being less responsive than normal, drowsy or confused

Emergency warning signs in children

Monitor your condition. If your symptoms worsen and you develop any of the above emergency warning signs, call 995 immediately for an ambulance to transport you to the nearest hospital for treatment:

1) Make A Plan

4) Use Relaxation Techniques To Quit Smoking

- Listening to SPA music and take a long deep breath will help to reduce tension and clear your mind.

5) Get Help From Others

- Tell your decision to quit smoking to your close friends, relatives and ask their help to remind you if you are about to smoke. If they love you, they will remind you and tell you not to smoke again.

6) Quit Smoking Hypnosis

Hypnosis works by getting you into a deeply relaxed state where you are open to suggestions that strengthen your resolve to quit smoking and increase your negative feelings toward cigarettes.

Conclusion:

Quitting Smoking needs one’s firm determination and once you success to quit smoking, your health condition will become better and less stress.
